Hello, and thank you for stopping by my page! I’m an artist with a love for the sciences. It all started with a research trip to collect bird-banding data at the Shoals Marine Laboratory. I was part of a team that analyzed the stopover ecology of small migrating birds.
During one of our trips, I learned about a biological illustration course being taught just up the hill from our bird-banding station. I looked into the course and signed up to take it the following year.
It was during that course that I changed my career path from pre-veterinary medicine to medical Illustration! I had never felt so impossibly thrilled while drawing in my whole life! After completing my Bachelor’s degree in Biology, I entered the Biomedical Visualization program at the University of Illinois at Chicago. There, I received my Master’s degree in Biomedical Visualization.
I think the life sciences are incredibly exciting and hope to convey that delight and appreciation in my work. I hope you enjoy my illustrations! If you would like to work together or license an image, please contact me at dorothy.fatunmbi(at)gmail.com.
